Bible interpretation is vital because it helps prevent the misrepresentation of God’s Word and ensures that its intended spiritual purpose is fulfilled. Scripture is Spirit and Life, which means it requires the right spiritual sensitivity and mental posture to be properly understood. A key principle of interpretation is that a text should be taken in its plain and ordinary meaning unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. For instance, the creation account and the resurrection of Jesus are literal events that should not be unnecessarily spiritualized.
Understanding the literal and historical background of a passage is important for avoiding confusion, controversy, and the impression that the Bible is rooted in superstition. Genuine authority to teach doctrine comes from truths God has personally worked out in your life. The foundation of your doctrine is often found in your personal dealings with God. Revelation is produced through consistent fellowship with the Holy Spirit and deep engagement with Scripture, not through casual reading. You need to listen to this sermon.
