Myanmar Christian Activist Calls for Prayer and Humanitarian Support Amid Ongoing Crisis

A Christian activist from Myanmar has appealed for urgent prayer and increased international support for civilians affected by years of conflict and displacement in the country.

Eh Pho, who was born and raised near the Myanmar–Thailand border, shared that generations of her family have experienced displacement. She said many Christian communities continue to face insecurity, with some people forced to study in forests or temporary shelters while worshipping under difficult conditions.

Speaking in a recent interview, she explained that repeated attacks on civilian areas have damaged schools, hospitals, and churches, leaving many families without essential services.

Eh Pho said women have had to give birth during wartime without access to proper medical care. She also noted that churches, which often serve as places of peace and support, have been affected by the violence.

Despite these hardships, she emphasized the resilience of local believers, saying that faith remains strong even during difficult times.

Faith Communities Offering Hope

According to Eh Pho, Christian communities in Kayin State, formerly known as Karen State, continue to encourage one another through prayer, worship, and mutual support.

She described churches as important spaces of comfort for families who have been forced to leave their homes. Prayer gatherings, she said, often provide the only moments of peace for many displaced people.

Eh Pho also expressed hope that one day peace will return, allowing families to live freely and preserve their local culture and traditions.

Political Developments in Myanmar

Her comments come shortly after Myanmar’s new president, Min Aung Hlaing, was sworn into office. In his inaugural address, he said the government would focus on economic growth, foreign investment, democracy, and peace.

However, the speech reportedly offered limited details on how the administration plans to address the country’s ongoing conflict and international challenges.

Myanmar has faced years of unrest since the 2021 military takeover, with continued reports of violence, humanitarian concerns, and widespread displacement.

Call for International Action

Eh Pho recently raised concerns before members of the UK Parliament, calling for stronger humanitarian assistance delivered through border regions, as well as increased pressure on military-linked resources and leadership.

Although she now lives in Thailand, she remains in contact with relatives still inside Myanmar, including her husband. Her story reflects the separation many families continue to experience because of the crisis.

Appeal for Prayer and Support

Eh Pho urged Christians and supporters around the world to pray for peace, safety, and the opportunity for displaced families to return home.

She is also participating in the Manchester Marathon to raise funds for the Ephiany Trust, an organization supporting refugees and internally displaced people from Myanmar.
